Bangladeshi fest to screen Iran’s ‘Better than Neil Armstrong’

The Int’l Children’s Film Festival Bangladesh is to screen Iran’s ‘Better than Neil Armstrong’.

The 2021 edition of the International Children’s Film Festival Bangladesh has been scheduled to screen Iranian feature ‘Better than Neil Armstrong’.

Written and directed by Alireza Qasemi, the short film tells the story of four kids who start their journey to the moon with the mission of finding a mysterious place called The Redland, but the gates of The Redland are being guarded by a mischievous snake.

‘Better than Neil Armstrong’ has won a number of awards, including Best Live Action Short Film Director's award at the Pune International Film Festival in India, best film award at the Drama Section of the Southport International Short Film Festival in the UK, Best Student Short Film award at the Las Cruces International Film Festival in the US, Best Cinematography and Best Movie Soundtrack awards at the Nahal Student Short Film Festival in Iran, as well as best director and best photography awards at the Via dei Corti Independent Short Film Festival in Italy.

The short film has also been screened at various global events such as the Izmir International Short Film Festival in Turkey, the Lund International Fantastic Film Festival in Sweden, the Trenton Film Festival in the US, the Lakeshorts International Short Film Festival in Canada, the Muslim Film Festival in Australia, the Crossing The Screen Film Festival in the UK, the North Bellarine Film Festival in Australia, the Leiden International Film Festival in the Netherlands, and the Charlotte Film Festival in the US.

The International Children’s Film Festival Bangladesh is an annual week-long film festival held countrywide, which showcases full-length features, shorts, experimental films made for and by children from around the world.

Launched in 2008, the festival is one of the biggest film events in Bangladesh and also the only international film festival for children and young adults of the country.

The 2021 edition of the event is slated for January 30-February 5.
